Dalchini Spice

3 Southbridge St, Shefford SG17 5DB, UK – 01462 810055

My experience here was as one of a group of 20. Large parties are always a challenge for a restaurant and this one was not really up to it. The service was good, if a little pushy with the waiters asking if we wanted more drinks too frequently. My meal was on the bland side. The mussels were over cooked and rubbery. The mushroom rice was a little short on mushrooms and it was cold when it arrived. Overall a disappointing meal but the company was great.

First time there and was great food and price

The Five Bells

101 High St, Henlow SG16 6AE, UK – 01462 811125

A wonderful Sunday meal for Dad's birthday catering for 10 of us. There were lots of staff to take drinks and food orders at the table even though it was extremely busy. The starters, main meals and sweets were great quality. It was a good atmosphere and everybody enjoyed themselves. The garden and kids play area was also a hit. A special thanks to Tom and his team - Many Thanks. We will be coming back again

I have been to the 5 Bells many times for meals and I have never had a bad meal here at all. The food is always fantastic. I also belong to a club and the we go here every year for our annual dinner as the food is always lovely and such good value for money, plus this pub has a really nice atmosphere and even when they are really busy you never feel that you are being rushed to finish your meal as someone else is waiting to have your table. On this visit I held my husband's wake here, after his untimely death, which is the first time that I have ever seen a finger buffet laid out at this pub. Again they produced fantastic food with lots of variety, not just sandwiches, sausages rolls and crisps like you get at other places. Don't get me wrong these items were included amongst other things including, spring rolls, bbq chicken wings, Yorkshire puddings with cheese and tomato in, Cornish pasties and lots of other items to. Again the atmosphere was warm and friendly and we never felt rushed at all. The staff are friendly and very helpful, even providing trays and helping us to cover these trays once we had filled them with the food that we were all taking home with us as the portion sizes are very generous. All in all they produced a brilliant spread for the price and I can't recommend them highly enough. This is definitely a venue that I will use again when I need to hold another event where family and friends are all getting together, only next time I will make sure that it's a happy event not a sad one like this time. In the meantime I will still be going and having lovely meals here. One thing I do need to mention is that you really need to book a table, certainly for evening meals. It maybe best to call ahead at lunchtime too as I know that they can get very busy then too. To me this is also a very good sign that this pub serves wonderful food all day as its so popular.
